There's a scene where Rick (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and Cliff (played by Brad Pitt) are being interviewed by an NBC reporter.
Rick is starring in the lead role of the TV series Bounty Law whilst Cliff is his stunt double. The reporter asks Rick to describe what a stunt double means, and he does; at the end he adds this line: "So, Cliff here is meant to help carry the load."
The reporter asks if that's how Cliff describes his job. Cliff’s reply will underpin the entire movie: "What, carrying his load?" "Yeah, that's about right."
Throughout the entire movie we don't just see Cliff doing cool things, but also how he is more-than-a-brother-but-less-than-a-wife to Rick. At the end, we see how he saves Rick and his wife's life from three hippies-turned-homicidal-maniacs.
