Gladiator is one of the most impactful movies released in the past few decades. Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie is an epic story of Roman general Maximus and his rise from slavery to a gladiator. The movie also has some of the best lines ever spoken.


However, the Gladiator movie is not based on a true story. It takes a creative liberty to depict several scenes and characters.


The film stars Russell Crowe as Maximus along with several other influential actors like Joaquin Phoenix and Connie Nielsen. The Gladiator movie is also said to reinvent the sword-and-sandal subgenre.
